National Youth Corps donated its 37 th house under the “Senehe Piyasa” housing project at Medirigiriya. National Youth Corps has scheduled to build 58 houses island wide as a community project in view of contributing the youth power to the society while empowering them to groom with personality development, leadership and discipline. The project is implemented by NYC giving youth the opportunity to plan, organize, create and implement the project as a team. Youth is expected to meet well wishers, donors and intellectuals to fulfill the given task. Thus they built a house and handed over to homeless needy family in the area.
The recipient of the house is Mr. and Mrs, DD Wijesinghe and HG Premawathi who are suffering from prolong illnesses and a handicapped child living in 269/2 Kauduligama, Medirigiriya. Hon. Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs Roshan Ranasinghe MP handed over the keys to the needy family and promised to donate Rs 100000/= to each family which is built by the cadets in future. Director National Youth Corps Brigadier Sujeewa Rathnayake USP psc IG ,Additional Director Nishantha Pushpakumara ,Provincial Director East, Officer-in-Charge of Medirigiriya National Youth Corps Training Centre, distinguished guests and government officials participated on the occasion.
