Brigadier Sujeewa Rathnayake USP psc IG assumed the role of Director of the National Youth Corps on 17th April 2023. Under his leadership, the National Youth Corps focused on the three core themes of discipline, leadership, and personality, with the aim of developing youth potential while addressing the aspirations of young people and the realities of the job market. The National Youth Corps has made significant progress in line with sustainable development goals, thanks to his guidance.
Over nearly two years, Brigadier Sujeewa Rathnayake USP psc IG, a distinguished senior officer in the Sri Lanka Army, dedicated himself to the development of Sri Lankan youth. His service as Director of the National Youth Corps and his contributions to the National Youth Corps staff were recognized in a ceremony held on 21st January 2025, at the National Youth Corps headquarters. Following this, he departed for duties at the Army Headquarters.
At the event, the Youth Affairs and Sports Ministry was represented by Deputy Minister of Youth Affairs, Hon. Eranga Gunasekara, while the National Youth Corps staff, including Additional Director (Administration and Finance) Attorney Nishantha Pushpakumara, Additional Director (Training and Development) Saman Kulasuriya, Provincial Directors, Assistant Directors and Headquarters staff, were also present.
