The National Youth Corps, under the leadership of Brigadier Sujeewa Rathnayake, USP psc IG successfully concluded a six-month life skills course for the first group of youth cadets in 2024. The graduation ceremony took place on August 7, 2024, at the Gampaha District Sports Complex, presided over by Mr. K. Mahesan, Secretary of the Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs. The event was held with great pride and celebration.
The Director of the National Youth Corps provided complete guidance for this prestigious event, opening new pathways for the development of the organization as well as for the advancement of the youth cadets.
Under the supervision of the Western Province Director, Colonel Palitha Mendis, Youth Cadets from training centers in Attanagalla, Bulathsinhala, Yakkala, Divulapitiya, Katunayake and Rajagiriya participated in the ceremony.
The event was made vibrant by performances from the Yakkala School of Aesthetic Dance, an invited school band display, a youth cadet cultural showcase, and a national youth corps band performance.
Attendees included Brigadier Sujeewa Rathnayake USP psc IG, the Director of the National Youth Corps, Officials from the Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs, Attorney Nishantha Pushpakumara, Additional Director (Administration and Finance) Saman Kulasuriya, Additional Director (Training and Development) Provincial directors including Colonel Palitha Mendis, The Western Province Director, Headquarters officials; Center heads; Local government officials, Principals from schools in the area; center instructors, School children, Youth Cadets and parents.
