On 17th July 2014, National Youth Corps under the then Ministry of Youth Affairs and Skills Development in collaboration with the BCI Institute in India commenced a training programme on business outsourcing, with instructors from both NYC and outside parties as trainees. Nearly 13 trainees completed a 14-day programme in four disciplines and passed out as internationally qualified BPO Master Trainers on facing an examination conducted by the BCI. Subsequent to this training, the National Youth Corps and the BCI Institute of India under the auspices of the then Ministry of Youth Affairs and Skills Development established the first State Institute for Business Outsourcing, the Institute of Business Process Outsourcing (IBPO).
In future internationally qualified BPO Master Trainers will be employed as trainers for IBPO’s future programmes. The IBPO course spanning for a period of 6 months provides training for, viz; customer interaction career, internal office services, financial processes and technical assistance. During this period, the course not only covers the subject areas but provides IT, English language, personality development and career guidance with the aim to develop the trainees’ soft skills.

The first IBPO course commenced in November 2014 for a selected group of trainees from the Western Province NYC Training Centres. Subsequently the opportunity for IBPO training were extended to the trainees from all provinces in the NYC Training Centres.
