The National Youth Corps Life Skills Development Course is designed to groom the Sri Lankan youth with discipline, leadership and personality as well as empower with knowledge and skills.
Life skills by definition are known as common skills or core skills related to people: communication, empathy, etiquette, leadership, discipline etc. By developing such skills, one will possess the personality traits, viz emotional intelligence, social awareness, much-needed manners, socially accepted behavior, and interpersonal skills. That is, it can be expressed as developing and guiding skills referred to the subjects related to life that are required for day to day activities. As a training institute, the National Youth Corps has introduced this training targeting the younger generation of the country for their success both in life and career.
The course is conducted by the Instructors of the National Youth Corps Training Centers and the trainees are awarded with a Recognized Certificate at the end of the course.
On the conclusion of the basic training, 30 trainees with the best performances are selected for scholarships. The selected 30 trainees receive scholarships to reputed private sector VT Institutes. Rest of the trainees are directed to state-owned VT institutes, accordingly.
